Idli !!!


What could be more satisfying  for a south Indian rather than having Idli for breakfast??
So sharing my softest Idli recipe...


  Ingredients :
  • 1 cup urad dal
  • 2.5 cups Idli rawa
  • (If its fine variety add 3 cups ...if coarse use 2.5 cups )
  • Salt to taste
  • Pinch of Soda bi carb
Method
  • Wash & Soak both dal and rawa seperately in adequate water overnight.
  • Next morning grind the dal into fine paste..
  • Squeeze and remove water from rawa n add it to other bigger container..
  • Now add the urad dal paste to rawa n mix well ..
  • Now close this container with a tight lid and keep in warm place for fermentation...
  • It might take from 12 hrs to 24 hrs to ferment n double in size depending on the weather..
  • Once its risen and doubled, the batter is all ready to make idlies ...
  • While making idlies add a pinch of soda bi carb and enough salt...
  • Give it a good stir and adjust its consistency to thick yet pouring by adding water as needed..

  • Now grease the idli moulds ..pour enough batter in each dent and set the steamer for 10 mins...

  • Once steamed..scoop n serve with your fav dip / chutney / sambhar...

Soft and white idlies are steaming hot ready to slurrp....Prepare and hogg with your family and friends ....
